About development


Finishing the game after prototype took me about 6 hours:

Day seven 6hrs

  • editor extensions
  • android, mobile controls
  • fix jump
  • fix editor extension saving
  • add SFX
  • main menu background
  • making android build work
  1. The thing I enjoyed the most during development was creating the save load system, I wanted to make it extensible, so it was an interesting challenge.
  2. My biggest struggle was various undocumented Unity behaviour, I learned for example, that UI Toolkit buttons stop the click event propagation.
  3. I am mostly satisfied with the results, although due to the bigger scope of the game, the code is less ideal than I wanted (but I think it’s still fine).
  4. Start with Unity 6, 2022 is too old. Start with the save and load system in mind, rather than adapting the code later on.
